Autism
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is not uncommon, affecting in some form or other about one in a hundred people. We hope, in at least a small way, to help promote awareness of ASD through this section of our web site.
Falmouth Mural
We were very moved by a wonderful mural we came across in Falmouth whilst on our Autumn 2022 tour of Cornwall to promote Angel's Blade. The mural was dedicated to ASD (which is hinted at but unnamed when we meet some of the gifted teenagers in Angel's Blade) and prompted us to set up this page.
Pobbly Boo
This verse by Lewis Hinton is about his autistic grandson Alfie, who was six when the poem was written. Alfie is non-verbal but still makes lots of noise! One day he was staring out of a window whilst lining up bottles and jars in a row according to size (as Alfie loves to do), and repeating what sounded like the words 'Pobbly Boo'.
And thus a poem was born.
If you enjoyed reading Pobbly Boo and would like to support ASD, please follow one of these links highlighted below and donate to UK charity Ambitious about Autism, French charity Fondation Initiative Autisme , or Luxembourgish charity Fondation Autisme Luxembourg:
Please let them know you donated via the Lewis Hinton website (if you don't mind!).
